Our History

Rise Bolton was launched in September 2013, by Liesl. Previous to this she started Rise Dance Academy in the Midlands in 2005.

When Liesl was 18 years old she had the privilege of being giving the opportunity to lead the local church’s youth dance team, from there she decided to set up a class for younger children, numbers grew and more classes were added.

When Liesl got married and relocated to Bolton in 2011, Rise in the midlands was left in the trusty hands of her sister, who still runs it today. Liesl took a short break from Rise to settle in Bolton, then after the birth of her first child made the decision to not go back to her fulltime job in education and launch Rise Bolton.

With the wonderful support of The Bridge Church, Bolton, Rise has flourished and grown over the last 10 years being able to provide children and young people with a place to come and take part in classes doing activities they love, a platform to perform and shine and be celebrated for their every success, we endeavour to make each child feel loved, cared for and a valued part of our Rise family.

Rise is proud to also delivering weekly dance and gymnastic classes in school PE lessons as part of the national curriculum.

Meet The Team

Founder/Owner/Teacher

Liesl started her dance journey with her local dance school age 2, forming so many great memories into her late teens. Training and completing exams with IDTA, ISTD and RAD in Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft, Jazz, Modern, Disco, Acro and was also a member at her local gymnastic club.

Dance and gymnastics were a huge passion and part of her life growing up. So when found in the position to use this passion to teach others it was a amazing opportunity which she hasn’t looked back on and counts it a huge privilege every day.

When not doing Rise things, she is found soaking up precious moments with her family making great memories, with her husband and 4 young children.

Liesl is a qualified teacher under IDTA and Acrobatic Arts, also holding qualifications in Fitness instructing – exercise and physical activity with children, Zumba instructor, Awards Award advisor, first Aid trained and safe guarding Level 1.

Elle Crichton

Teacher

Elle’s dance journey began at the age of 3 when enrolled at her local dance school. Weekly training in Classical Ballet, Tap and Modern/Jazz began and it quickly became more than just a hobby. Dance not only allowed her confidence to flourish but became a new way to communicate feelings and tell stories. Performing and all things theatre became a new dimension to Dance and the love grew.

An opportunity to join a new Drama and Singing group specialising in Musical Theatre came up and she jumped at the chance to be part of it. She loved learning how to train and care for her voice and develop her acting skills. Her group quickly became like a second family and her tutors really helped her to thrive. Elle has achieved multiple awards under LAMDA in both Musical Theatre and Acting. Elle also had specialist vocal training and begun singing in her Church Worship band.

It was mid way through her University journey when Liesl asked Elle if she wanted to become a part of Rise! Of course she said yes! Elle believed this would enable her to help young people to develop their own self confidence, life skills and grow their talents. This opportunity has been a huge blessing in Elles life and she loves being part of the Rise family.

Elle is currently working as a Head Of Year in a local school and as a Teacher at Rise. Both are huge passions and supporting young people has become one of Elle’s favourite things! When Out of Office Elle really enjoys spending time with her Fiancé, friends and family.

Elle is trained in Musical Theatre, Dance and Acro under LAMDA, Street Fit and Acrobatic Arts. She has her Safeguarding Level 1 and is First Aid Certified.

Ellie Hogg

Junior class assistant

Ellie has been around Rise since she was a born and at 13months old shortly after taking her first steps she became an official Rise dancer and joined Tots dance. Ellie truly has a love for dance and performing, but also has a fantastic way with younger children and is an amazing role model when helping support our younger classes at Rise.

Ellie also plays for a local girls football team and even got to play at Manchester city last year in a cup final and won! She is a great team player and loves taking part in other sports too.

In the future Ellie would like to be a school teacher, which we think would be perfect job for her. We look forward to seeing Ellie grow and develop and are very grateful for her energy and support in our younger classes.

Emily joined Rise Tots class aged 3, and has never looked back. Emily is a very special student at Rise who is recognised for her positive and welcoming attitude and also her determination to achieve her goals. Emily was awarded the Rise Dancer of the year in 2022.

Emily loves to read, enjoys writing her own stories, and loves spending time with friends. She aspires to become a teacher either in education or a dance school one day, Emily loves to work with younger children helping support and encourage them in things they are learning, which is something she does brilliantly when helping at Rise. Emily is also a keen member of a local girls football team and again enjoys helping support coaches with younger teams too. When asked what is the best thig about Rise she replied with making friends and the friendly teachers who are kind and encourage you to be the best you can be even when things are hard.

TESTIMONIAL

My 8 Year old absolutely loves doing Acro at Rise Dance. Liesl and Elle are so supportive with all the class, from the youngest to the eldest. It’s a fantastic atmosphere—they all go in with such enthusiasm, but all this is not at the expense of success—we were bursting with pride when she came 1st in a recent competition. There’s just something different about Rise.
